Marriage and the Biblical roles of men and women are critical to bringing the kingdom of heaven to earth. Pastor Chris talks about one of the passages used to show that Eve was under Adam’s authority and how it is likely a misused passage and does not support that narrative. Eve sinned first and was accountable before God and God alone for her sin, and Adam being a type of Christ as the first of all creation doesn’t take away from Eve’s actions and responsibility.
When Christ died, He did so to restore all that was broken, including marriage. Pastor Chris discusses the issues concerning the roles of Adam and Eve in relation to authority and dominance in the Garden of Eden. The highlighted issue is the fall of mankind, and the argument that Adam is ultimately more responsible than Eve for their sin. If Adam is more responsible than Eve in the fall, then he ultimately had more authority and responsibility than Eve. Does the Genesis account say this? Are there passages that make this teaching abundantly clear? Pastor Chris shares his thoughts.
Pastor Chris shares on the concept of Adam and Eve in the garden and how that relates to the views of marriage according to classic Complementarians. The idea that Adam had authority over the woman in the Garden of Eden doesn’t seem to hold up with the text itself and Chris dives into a few of the arguments made by Complementarians on the issue.
Pastor Chris argues that under the blood of Jesus, men and women are created equal, and carry the same authority in the earth, the home and the church. Keep updated on blog posts and further teaching on these topics at pastorcjb.tv.
Pastor Chris is talking about the roles and words used to delineate the gender roles and uses in the Garden of Eden. God sees the need of man and creates woman as a suitable helper. This concept is important as the use of the words in the Hebrew must be looked at carefully in order to honor the text and not just overlay a traditional view of women on to Eve at creation.
